In 2014, Saint Elizabeth Manor, formerly a member of Saint Elizabeth Community, received an anonymous donation in honor of the many employees who demonstrate exemplary service to patients and families. This gift served to establish a new recognition program for employees: The Starfish Award.
Inspired by the poem, "Starfish", this annual award recognizes employees whose care philosophy touches the hearts of those they serve in a way that is above and beyond any job description. Every position at Saint Elizabeth Community has the potential of making a difference in the lives of those we serve…direct caregivers and support staff alike. Any employee in a non-management position is eligible for recognition. Nominations may be submitted by current clients or family members, volunteers and staff of any Saint Elizabeth Community entity.
The program has now expanded to include all locations of Saint Elizabeth Community.
Each year, a Starfish Award Winner is selected from Saint Elizabeth Home thanks to a gift from The Friends of Saint Elizabeth Home; Saint Elizabeth Adult Day Centers thanks to a gift from Fred Harrison and Susan Truesdell; Saint Elizabeth Home Care thanks to an anonymous donation; and Saint Elizabeth Assisted Living, Saint Elizabeth Apartments for Seniors and Saint Elizabeth Apartments for Seniors and Mobility-Impaired as a collective thanks to an anonymous donation.
A nominee will be selected from Saint Elizabeth Home; Saint Elizabeth Adult Day Centers; and Saint Elizabeth Home Care, Saint Elizabeth Assisted Living, Saint Elizabeth Apartments for Seniors and Saint Elizabeth Apartments for Seniors and Mobility-Impaired as a collective.
The Starfish Award is presented each year on, or around, November 13th which is World Kindness Day and includes a $250 American Express Gift Card, a commemorative pin, and framed certificate. The winner will remain confidential until the ceremony.
